Camas Resident Assures In-Laws Town Is 'Basically Portland, Just Cleaner'

CAMAS — Hosting her in-laws from Ohio this weekend, area resident Dana Wexler, 38, repeatedly assured the visiting couple that Camas is “basically Portland, just cleaner,” a comparison she maintained through a complete downtown itinerary lasting 40 minutes, including the paper mill overlook.
“We have everything Portland has,” Wexler said, gesturing at a coffee shop, the other coffee shop, and an antique store closed for a family matter.
The in-laws were later driven 25 minutes into Portland “for dinner options,” a trip Wexler framed as voluntary and cosmopolitan rather than necessary.
“We could live here,” the mother-in-law reportedly said, watching Mount Hood from the car. “If we were done doing things.”
Wexler has since described the visit as a success. The in-laws described it as “nice.” Neither account could be reconciled with the other.
